Federation News

Uckfield WI along with (***) is part of the East Sussex Federation of Women’s Institutes.  The Federation turns 100 this year and forms an integral part of the WI, they run courses at their headquarters in Hailsham and at locations across the county.

This page brings together all of the news published by the federation including courses, requests for support (for example volunteers for the WI Tea Tent at the South of England show), competitions and events. GENERAL

ESFWI Calendar 2019 – Request for photographs depicting ‘East Sussex, the Home of Inspirational Women’ for the 2019 calendar.  Applications, along with photographs, should be sent to HQ by Friday 24 November 2017.


EVENTS

Sussex Centenary Commemorative Reception – to be held on Tuesday 5 September in the grounds of Great Ote Hall, Wivesfield. Applications to be returned to ESFWI, Falcon Way, Hailsham BN27 1HY by Thursday 18 May.

Federation Denman Trip 1-4 SEPTEMBER 2017 - There are still places available on the Federation trip to Denman this year.  For your money you will be provided with transport on the federation coach; a choice from six superb courses provided by experts in the different fields; full board for three nights to include delicious meals as well as refreshments between meals and entertainment on the last evening, with a trip to Oxford on Monday morning before heading home.  The courses include a new course, ‘Stunning Scarves on Soluble Fabric’ with Marilyn Piper.  The five other courses are:  Mediterranean Cuisine with Peter Lien, ‘I Want to Sing’ with Jo Sercombe, iPad for Improvers with Stephen Green, European Style Floral Design with David Martin,  The Arts and Crafts Movement with Anna Steven.  Information about the courses and application forms are available from Gill Nokes (01323 846818) and from ESFWI HQ – hq@esfwi.org.uk.


COURSES

Mosaics Workshop

To be held at ESFWI Headquarters on Friday 2 June and Saturday 24 June, Peacehaven Meridian Centre on Tuesday 27 June and Crowborough Community Centre on Friday 30 June. Applications will be taken under the NEW SYSTEM. Bookings will open on Tuesday 11 April.  It will then be open to non-members from Tuesday 25 April with a closing date of Tuesday 9 May.  Bookings will be taken in order of receipt after the opening date until full. Applications to be returned to ESFWI, Falcon Way, Hailsham BN27 1HY.


COMPETITIONS

Lady Denman Cup Competition 2017 – ‘Inspired by the Climate Change Campaign For the Love of…’.  Entries (with four copies) and the completed Individual Entry Form to be sent to ESFWI HQ, Falcon Way, Hailsham BN27 1HY by Thursday 15 June.  Entries can now be submitted via email – an electronically completed individual application form is still required and the form can be emailed from ESFWI HQ to participants upon request.
