Leasa is president and founder of Uckfield WI. She moved to Uckfield 9 years ago and lives with her husband and 2 young children. When not having fun with the Uckfield WI she helps run her father’s company and co-chairs the committee led local pre-school.
She started the group because she believed in the ethos behind the WI and wanted to meet like minded women, do something good in the local community and have a laugh. She loves cooking, eating and gin and because of those she has also recently joined the gym.
Tiffany Diamond - Secretary
Our secretary Tiffany has lived in Uckfield for the past 7 years and has three young children. A primary teacher by trade, she has busied herself since having her family by involving herself as a volunteer running the local NCT branch and was heavily involved with the recent Crowborough Birthing Centre Campaign. Making a difference in the community is close to her heart which is why she relishes being involved with WI.
Aside from nappy changes, school runs and rarely sitting still, she loves to do anything creative but also enjoys a good evening in front of Netflix; often serial-watching programmes and getting through them in record time. Music is also an integral part of her personality – she used to be a seasoned crowd surfer and is always on the hunt for new heavy music to enhance her current listening library!
Laura Morgan - Treasurer
Laura is a single mum of two boys, Max & Leo, works as a Learning & Development Manager for an executive search firm in Brighton, coaches U5/U6 football for Maresfield Dynamos, volunteers with her boys' school as well as a cancer based charity supporting women, whilst somehow finding time to keep our finances in check!
Laura is a keen runner and you'll probably see her pounding the pavements around Uckfield at some point.
Being part of a group which can help shape our community was the main reason why Laura joined our WI, as well as the chance to meet some like minded women and have fun too. Having previously been a treasurer for a charity based preschool, Laura was happy to take on the role for The Belles and secretly really enjoys number crunching!
Heather Camsell - Vice President
Heather was a member of the senior leadership team for the Financial Services Authority (as was) and had responsibility for the Estate, Corporate Security and Business Continuity. She was key in supporting the financial sector with planning against and managing a range of situations such as the 2005 July 7 bombings, the financial crash of 2008 and the flu pandemic, 2009.
Heather moved to Uckfield 9 years ago, and on having her two children Harvey and Florence decided to become a stay at home Mum and focus her attention on them and her husband Paul. Since then she has been an active member of the community acting as a trustee for a local preschool and the Primary school her children attend.
Leasa asked Heather to become her vice president in order to give support but also challenge the committee when required, and as she likes nothing better than a challenge she accepted. Heather wanted to be part of the WI to be able to focus on something purely for herself. She likes to have a drink and a laugh with like minded people and enjoys the opportunity to learn new things, although crafts are not a particular strength!
Anne - aka Annie - moved to Uckfield almost 8yrs ago from Suffolk and before then lived in Cornwall for a 5 years. She has 3 boys and is surrounded by football madness! She's been married to Golf Pro Nick for 17yrs!
Squash is a favourite of hers and keeps her entertained. She's a qualified Nursery Nurse, has a diploma in Child Psychology but now turns her hand to photography which she loves!
Joining the WI has given her some much needed time out for herself away from smelly teenagers and grotty footy boots! Meeting new like minded ladies is also a big bonus!
Becky is in charge of our online presence and keeping our website updated. She joined the WI to make new friends and enjoy some time outside of motherhood. Having moved to Uckfield from Glasgow with her husband when she was 6 months pregnant with twins, she's enjoying gaining a new social life now they are 18 months old.
A dentist by profession, she is also a keen photographer, enjoys lots of crafts and other hobbies including horse riding and scuba diving as well as writing her own personal blog. Becky is the leader of the Uckfield Baking Club, our baking sub-group.
Charlotte is going to be our sub-group coordinator, ensuring we all know what is happening and when. She is East Sussex born and bred and has lived in Uckfield for almost 12 years now. Charlotte joined the WI to meet some lovely new friends and have fun!
She is a mummy to her son Finley, 6, and daughter Madeleine, 19 months, and loves to read, sing and write. Outside of family life Charlotte is a solicitor, working for a local law firm. She is a self confessed country bumpkin and has an unhealthy obsession with stationery!
Karen lives in Uckfield with her current husband (number 2) one stepson and one black cat called Ember. She moved here in 2004 and managed to convince her husband to join her in the country life in 2006. They now operate their two businesses from Uckfield commuting as necessary. One business is designing, selling and installing bathrooms and the other is in the construction industry working with glass fibre. She had a varied employment history including event management, human resources, account management and executive assistant to a managing director, but is now looking a little more "me" time and is keen to be involved in the local community and in particular with the WI. She likes to read, grow veg, cook and will preserve almost anything.
Laura is a lover of lists, spreadsheets and clipboards and with a background in events and standing up in front of lots of people she was perfect to become part of our WI Events team. Laura grew up near Uckfield and after disappearing off to university in London when she was 18 decided to move back to the area with her husband and two boys.
She is now mummy to another little boy, so has her hands full with 3 boys. Between school runs, nappy changes and running her own full-time business Laura loves to sing. She helped lead her choir, Chantage, to the Radio 3 Choir of the Year Competition in 2006 and even sang with Elbow on their Live at Abbey Road album in 2009.
Sophia is organising the Belles’ Special Events. Before children, she lived in London for 20 years, at first organising international sports and music events, and then being a property developer.
She moved to Uckfield 4 years ago and has never looked back, loving making so many wonderful friends and living a more relaxed life in such a great, friendly town. She’s married to Alex and they have two (mostly!) gorgeous children, a dog and two cats. She’s looking forward to getting a bit of “me-time” with the Belles, learning a few new skills and having lots of fun!
